A Gallon of Gas, German Style…
I walk by the gas station on my way to the grocery store (about 4 blocks away).
This morning:
1 Liter = 1.49 Euro
3.8 liters = 1 gallon
1 Euro = $1.57 (4/24/08 exchange rate)
1 gallon = $8.89
3 commentsThe Other Week…
Me: Cool, it’s snowing! lets go outside! I need to take some pics.
Her: What??? You’re crazy!
Me: What? Why?
Her: It’s too cold!
Me: You’re German!
Her: Ya, I like the sun!
Me: If a wuss like me from California isn’t cold, then a proper German can’t be.
Her: You’re crazy! It’s too early…
Me: Please!
Her: Ach. Blödmann!
Me: Ok, cool. See you outside.
Her: Blödmann…

Moon
Caught this view out the window the other night. Nothing too spectacular, but the green light they’ve got going on the church tower is pretty eerie looking sometimes, especially if there’s a heavy mist in the air and all the people have their chimney’s going.
It’s a bit of a pain to try and shoot out the window (it is one of those ‘roof windows’ that rotate from a center point), so I really need to devise a good way to get out on the roof without breaking something on me or the house.

Taking Flight
When we decided to head up to the Walberla hill on Sunday afternoon I had no idea we would get such a cool show. I’m used to seeing paragliders and hang gliders in the skies over Santa Barbara, but I’ve never seen them launch before. The hang gliders seemed to get off pretty well, but for some of the paragliders it looked a bit haphazard as some big gust of wind would fill the parachute and basically just pic them up off the ground and up into the air, whether they wanted it or not. Lots of cool stormy clouds and light all day long.
If I had a spare $4-5 thousand sitting around, I think I could easily take up paragliding as a hobby.

Room with a view of spring
Tables are finally out at the cafe across the street and the trees are starting to bud, should be bright pink in another week or two.

Mr. Stork has been back for a couple weeks now. Spends his days eating frogs and working on his nest for when the wife arrives in a few weeks.

Ludwigshöhle
Cool little cave. If I were some cave-dude back in the day, this wouldn’t have been too bad of a place for a pad.
A bit tricky photo wise. 3 shots total: 1st for outside cave and silhouettes, next two for exposures inside cave. A bit of layer masking in Photoshop and here you go. Hardest part was from the people who kept standing in the background, wondering what I was doing or if there was something really cool they must be missing; as that could be the only reason there’s some guy in a cave with a really big camera on a tripod…

Allgäu in Winter
Made a short little road trip down to the Allgäu region over the weekend, or in other words, to the mountains. The trip was also to test out ‘the van,’ which we are going to take on a 3 week trip to Scotland next month. Weather was hit and miss, but managed a few photos between the snow and rain…

Zugspitze
Time lapse of clouds over Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain.
This is my first attempt to embed video, so if you have any problems seeing it, please comment!
